The Piloting skill is a tier 1 skill within Starfield‘s Tech skill tree and one of the most important skills in Starfield when it comes to your ship and space combat. Piloting’s Ranks 1 and 2 significantly boost your spacecraft’s handling and capabilities, while Ranks 3 and 4 allow you to fly more advanced ships with better reactors (Class B and C, respectively).
“In a universe constantly expanding, those certified to effectively pilot various spacecraft has grown dramatically.”

---|---|---|
1 | Enables ship thrusters | Destroy 5 ships |
2 | Increases ship turning rate and maneuverability | Destroy 15 ships |
3 | Unlocks Class B ships | Destroy 30 ships |
4 | Unlocks Class C ships | Mastered this skill |
This skill is fundamental for any player focusing on space combat, cargo and contraband transportation, and exploring. Not only does it increase your ship’s overall capabilities, but it also unlocks more advanced classes of ships as you climb through its ranks.
