EC-0840 Smart Cleaner is a boss you will encounter in Armored Core 6 during the 12th mission (the first mission of Chapter 2), “Infiltrate Grid 086.” While the boss looks very sturdy and mighty, it’s pretty easy to deal with, especially if you follow our recommendations and build your AC with the right parts. You will also find two Share IDs in this guide that you can use to download my two recommended builds.
EC-0840 Smart Cleaner Boss Guide
What sets the EC-0840 Smart Cleaner apart is its devastating heat-based arsenal. This boss wields arms that could only be described as molten metal grinders and can spew lava from its crown. But the quirk that leaves most players gnashing their teeth is the Smart Cleaner’s penchant for stagger resistance to most attacks. Bullets alone won’t do the job; In fact, bullets are not ideal against this boss, while your shots must be methodical and aimed at specific targets in its frame.
Weak Points: Front Vent and Lava Crown/Chimney
Your key to victory lies in hitting the Smart Cleaner’s weak points. It has two main vulnerabilities: a vent at the front and the molten-spewing top of its head. Landing shots on either will build up a stagger meter. Once this meter reaches its threshold, the boss will be temporarily immobilized, giving you a crucial window to unleash hell on it.
It’s worth noting that the boss doesn’t have a lot of mobility, and the lava-spewing attacks are very easily dodgeable. At the same time, its physical damage can be mitigated even with a lightweight AC. The real trouble is the boss’s armor and the fact that you must target its weak points. Lasers work best as they don’t ricochet while staying airborne to avoid ground attacks. Maintaining a vantage point is highly recommended, as it will also help you avoid its ranged lava attacks.

Best Builds Against EC-0840 Smart Cleaner
Note: I don’t like using tetrapods because I’m a fan of Gundams and Code Geass mechs, but a tetrapod here would be great if you want to stay airborne during most of the fight. However, the builds you will find below achieve a similar result.
I recommend the cheese build I discovered and an alternative with easier-to-get legs. The Build relies on sturdy legs to handle the mech’s weight but very lightweight arms and core. It’s a pretty awesome build to cheese Smart Cleaner, even if you lack skill. You will spend most of your time flying with a quick boost and shooting your hand and back lasers at the boss. Essentially, what you see here is based on Gundam Freedom.
Lasers can very easily stagger the boss if you attack its weak points, and as you can see in the video guide, they deal massive damage to the boss.
