Exploring Palworld becomes much more efficient and exciting with a mount, as it significantly speeds up your ability to traverse various terrains. Thankfully, several of the Pals you collect while exploring the Palpagos Islands can be mounted on the ground, air, or water. However, there are a few steps required before you can actually mount a Pal with this job description.
Tip: If you are looking for a mount early in the game, Rushoar, Direhowl, and Eikthyrdeer are all reasonably easy to obtain.
How to Get a Mount Pal in Palworld
To ride a Pal, whether it’s for land travel, sea navigation, or air exploration, you first need to capture a Pal capable of acting as a mount. You can check the Pal’s details to determine whether it has the “Can be ridden” label and prancing horse icon, indicating that the Pal can function as a mount.
However, mounting a Pal isn’t as simple as hopping on its back. Before you can start your journey, you need to craft a saddle. This requires unlocking the saddle blueprint from the Technology menu, which has its own set of prerequisites:
Capture a Mount Pal
To unlock the saddle blueprint, catch at least one Pal of the specific type you intend to mount. In the Technology menu, items requiring a specific Pal to unlock are indicated by a question mark. For instance, to unlock the Rushoar Saddle (Technology Tier 6), you must first capture a Rushoar to reveal the item behind the question mark.
Unlock the Saddle Recipe & Gather Saddle Resources
Ensure you have reached the necessary level to access the relevant section of the Technology menu. If you haven’t, engage in activities like catching Pals, gathering resources, and expanding your bases to gain experience points. Additionally, accumulate enough Technology Points to unlock the saddle recipe. For instance, the Rushoar Saddle recipe requires one technology point.
Check the Technology menu and Pal Gear Workbench for the resources needed for your specific saddle. Once collected, craft the saddle at the Workbench.
Unlock & Build the Pal Gear Workbench
The Pal Gear Workbench (Technology Tier 6) is essential for crafting items that enhance your Pal’s abilities, including various saddles. The materials needed are:
- 10x Paldium Fragment
- 30x Wood
- 2x Cloth
After crafting the saddle, release your mount Pal from its sphere and mount it by holding down “X” on your Xbox Controller or “F” on your keyboard. Riding your mount opens up a range of abilities, as you can use the Pal’s skills while mounting it to attack other Pals.
