In the expansive universe of Starfield, where your destiny is written in the stars, comes a quest that strikes a chord with anyone who’s ever been bogged down by bureaucracy. Welcome to “Red Tape Blues,” a quest that starts in the bustling mining settlement of Cydonia on Mars. This step-by-step guide has you covered everything from mining iron to corporate subterfuge to help Trevor and his miners get the resources they need.
How to Start Red Tape Blues
To start Red Tape Blues, head to Cydonia on Mars. An activity to Speak with Trevor will pop up in your mission log. Trevor Petyarre is at the end of the long main hall ramp in Cydonia‘s Central Hub section. Once you reach the end, take the stairs down, and you will find Trevor in front of an old mining machine. Activities can also be tracked with objective markers, so you can head to the Activities section of the Mission log, select “Speak with Trevor,” and follow the objective marker.
Trevor is the man in charge of Deimos Staryard‘s mines in Cydonia. Trevor will ask you to bolster their Iron yield to prove they exceed their quota and can buy new equipment.
Gather Iron
Pull up your Hand Scanner and search for iron deposits around Trevor’s team’s mining area. They will also appear with objective markers, so they are really easy to track. Use your Cutter to harvest iron from the located deposits. Gather 10 iron pieces and your next objective will appear.
Deposit 10 Units of Iron
Deposit the 10 Iron Pieces in the Deposit Bin close to Trevor. Return to Trevor to trigger the next phase of the plan.
Speak with Trevor
Trevor will ask you to apply for the Executive Assistant job to the Executive Director (Peter, who is useless and needs an assistant to do his job properly) at Deimos Staryard. As an executive assistant you will ensure that Trevor’s request for better equipment for his team is approved.
Open your Missions log and set the course to Deimos (a moon of Mars). Hold down X to travel or jump to it.
Apply for the Assistant to the Director Job
Once in orbit, the Deimos Staryard is impossible to miss as it’s enormous. Get within 500 meters of the Staryad, dock with it, and board it. Once inside, head to the Deimos Sales Computer and click the Job Posting: Executive Assistant button.
Apply for the job and answer the questions on the job application form. Your answers won’t matter, as Trevor has a way for you to get the job. Return to Cydonia and find Trevor.
Speak with Trevor
Inform Trevor that you applied for the executive assistant job. Now, you must ensure that you get hired by making yourself the only choice for the job. To do so, you must get access to the HR terminal in the corporate office upstairs on the main level of Cydonia’s Central Hub. All you have to do is delete all the other applications.
The HR director, Tia, and the rest of the HR staff go to the Broken Spear for drinks at 17:00. You can infiltrate the HR department. Trevor will give you the HR password drowssap.
Delete the Other Candidates’ Applications
Climb the stairs and head to the HR building overlooking the mining area. Sneak to Tia’s desk and access the Deimos HR Computer. Click the Job Applications folder and then press down until you find the Delete All Other Applications button.
It will leave just your application in the system. You can now return to Trevor.
Speak with Trevor
Speak to Trevor and tell him that you completed the task and you are the only applicant. He will answer that he saw the company message that you’ve been hired as Peter’s assistant and congratulate you!
This completes Red Tape Blues!
