How to get Keelhauler, the Crimson Fleet-themed Legandary pistol and one of the best early-game weapons in Starfield.

Keelhauler Starfield

In the expansive world of Starfield, finding the right weaponry can make all the difference in your galactic adventures. One such prized possession is the Keelhauler, a Magshot-based Legendary Pistol, one of the premier firearms available in the game’s earliest stages.

The Keelhauler distinguishes itself with a striking red spray, mirroring the emblematic colors of the Crimson Fleet, which also gives you an idea of the path you must take to acquire it. As a Legendary weapon, it boasts not one, not two, but three name modifiers/perks that can turn the tables in your favor.

Additionally, it comes equipped with four mods right out of the six mod slots available, further enhancing its versatility and firepower. Here is an important note about this pistol, though. The Frenzy and Berserker modifiers indicate that this weapon is best used against light-armored human or alien enemies.

We’ll delve into all the vital statistics of the Keelhauler, explore its unique modifiers, dissect its mod slots, reveal its item ID, and provide invaluable insights into how to obtain this coveted firearm.

The good news is that the journey to acquire the Keelhauler is relatively straightforward. However, the not-so-good news is that patience will be your greatest ally on this quest. So, gear up, fellow spacefarers, as we embark on obtaining the Keelhauler in Starfield.

How to Acquire the Keelhauler Legendary Pistol

If you aspire to wield the formidable Keelhauler in Starfield, your journey will require you to don the cloak of a double agent for the UC SysDef within the Crimson Fleet. This prized Legendary Pistol becomes yours as a reward from Delgado during the Echoes of the Past mission, the third chapter in the Crimson Fleet saga.

Here, we break down the crucial steps leading up to acquiring the Keelhauler, summarizing the Crimson Fleet missions you must undertake to infiltrate the notorious pirate faction terrorizing the Settled Systems:

Deep Cover Mission

Your foray into the Crimson Fleet’s world begins with the Deep Cover mission. To kickstart this operation, you have two routes: get yourself busted by UC Sec in a UC-controlled territory or align with the UC Vanguard by completing Supra et Ultra and Grunt Work.

Commander Ikande will assign you the task of infiltrating the Crimson Fleet and gathering incriminating evidence against them. Your objective: locate Adler Kemp in Cydonia and persuade him to arrange a rendezvous between you and the Crimson Fleet.

Completing this mission takes you one step closer to earning your place within the Crimson Fleet’s ranks.

Rook Meets King Mission

As your journey continues, you’ll undertake the Rook Meets King mission. This mission unfolds with a meeting between you and the Crimson Fleet’s First Mate, Naeva Mora, in the Astrae, positioned around Europa’s Orbit. From there, your path leads to Enceladus’ orbit, where you must eliminate Austin Rake, a former member of the Crimson Fleet, boarding the Ragasta.

Upon accomplishing this crucial task and assisting Naeva against an assault from the Ecliptic Mercenaries, you will make your way to The Key. This former UC space station now serves as the Crimson Fleet’s headquarters. At The Key, you’ll finally meet Delgado, the enigmatic and reckless leader of the Crimson Fleet, and officially become a part of Starfield’s pirate faction.

It won’t be anything like joining the Straw Hats, though.

Echoes of the Past Mission

The final leg of your covert journey unfolds in the Echoes of the Past mission, orchestrated by Delgado. Delgado and fellow rook Mathis will join you for an expedition to The Lock on Suvorov, a notorious UC prison from which Jasper Kryx escaped, eventually forming the Crimson Fleet. Your mission there will be to unearth clues related to Kryx’s Legacy, a hidden treasure Delgado seeks.

Once you’ve gathered these elusive clues and returned to The Key (which will take a while as everything will go wrong; what a surprise), you’ll have a pivotal conversation with Delgado. During this conversation, toward the mission’s conclusion, Delgado will entrust you with the prized Keelhauler, emphasizing its importance for the forthcoming mission, Breaking the Bank.

Your journey to secure the Keelhauler may be laden with intrigue and challenges, but the reward of wielding this Legendary Pistol will be worthwhile, as it’s one of the best early-game weapons in Starfield.
