Chasmbass fish inhabit the aquatic depths beneath Neon, a city located on Volii Alpha in the Volii system. Navigate to Neon’s Ebbside district and take the elevator to Neon’s Underbelly. Once you reach the Underbelly, head to Generdyne Industries and turn right to reach another elevator.
Neon’s unique position above an expansive ocean offers a direct route to a dock.
Activate your scanner once you’re ready, and you’ll spot a variety of fish in the waters below Neon, including Hunting Sharkwhale and Chasmbass Fish. The Chasmbass fish may take a moment to find due to their non-aggressive nature amidst more predatory species. To harvest Chasmbass Oil, target these fish from the safety of land or a platform, as engaging in combat while swimming isn’t possible. Upon being killed, Chasmbass fish will float to the surface, allowing you to enter the water and collect their valuable oil from their bodies. An alternative option is to jump out of the water while swimming and use a rifle or pistol (I used the Ambassador) to take down the Chasmbass fish.
Chasmbass Oil can also be acquired through commerce for those who prefer not to venture into aquatic hunting. Vendors such as the Trade Authority, Jemison Mercantile, and Newill’s Goods in Neon stock this rare oil, albeit at a premium price due to its scarcity.
