After completing Dead Stop (aka the missing worker side quest) at The Eleos Retreat in Starfield, Sloan will give you your next task. This time, you must find the kidnapper of the missing worker. Mention Kilman’s clues about the location he was kept (the smell or the steel floor) and Sloan will pass you the coordinates of an abandoned outpost.

Find the Kidnapper
To find the kidnapper, head to an abandoned outpost around 600 meters away from the Mineral Caverns system. Follow the path to the objective marker, but beware: On your way to the kidnapper’s quarters, you will encounter multiple turrets and robots. Consider taking advantage of the facility’s vents to avoid conflict with Robot Model S and Robot Model A enemies.
Inside the kidnapper’s quarters, you will find a Science Crate containing a Corrupted Slate, resources, and a random weapon.
You will also find a Credstik along with Weapon and Ammo Cases.
Return the Slate to the Retreat
Once you acquire the Corrupted Slate, return to The Eleos Retreat and head to the infirmary again. You will find Sloan, Greg D’Angelo, Monika, and Nevan Bohn there. Pass the corrupted slate to Sloan, and Monika will analyze it, revealing that the kidnappers were two bounty hunters doing off-the-books work for the Trackers Alliance.
The bounty hunters are on a supply run outside the Ixyll system, and Sloan will request that you act as an emissary on behalf of The Eleos Retreat. The end of the conversation will lead to completing the Ghost Hunt side quest, rewarding you with 75 EXP and Credits proportional to your character level. You will now embark on the next mission of the questline, Exorcism.
