How to Get Aurora in Starfield?

Anastasios Antoniadis

If you are wondering how to get Aurora in Starfield, here is where to buy it and unlock the Aurora recipe.

Aurora

I’m sure most Starfield players know the answer to the question “Where to get Aurora?” by now. The obvious answer is in Neon. If you keep track of Starfield’s lore, then you know that the Astral Lounge is the only place allowed to sell Aurora in the whole Settled Systems, and Neon is the only place where the drug is legal. Meanwhile, I think Xenofresh Fishery is the only place that is allowed to produce the drug. All these decisions come from Administrator Bayu, who is a real piece of work, as you will find out during the Fishy Business side quest.

So, part of the answer is that you can get Aurora from the Astral Lounge. But there is more.

How to Get Aurora From the Astral Lounge in Neon (Core)

If you haven’t visited the Astral Lounge bar yet, it’s at the Trade Tower behind Administrator Bayu’s Gold Statue. To get there, turn left from the Space Terminal elevator (your spawn point after you fast travel to Neon (Core) and head straight until you reach the end of the marketplace street, Bayu’s Plaza. Enter the tower’s lobby, and you will find the Astral Lounge at the top of the long purple staircase.

Once inside the Astral Lounge, head straight to the bar to find Boone Morgan, the bartender. Boone Morgan is also the person who can sell you the Sky Suite in Neon.

Select the “Can I take a look at the menu, please?” option to access Boone’s vendor menu. Once the Vendor > Buy menu opens, head to Aid items, and you will find Aurora fifth on the list. Note that the available amount is random within certain limits. Aurora’s price is 760 Credits; the price tags you see below are 10% reduced due to the Commerce skill (Rank 2).

Now, you know how you can get Aurora from the Astral Lounge in Neon (Core).

Let’s see the rest of your options.

How to Get Aurora From Euphorika in Ebbside

As you may have expected, the other way to get Aurora is to head to Euphorika in Neon’s Ebbside. However, since selling Aurora outside of Astral Lounge is illegal in Neon, you must get access to Euphorika’s Members Lounge. You can do so by talking to Myka, Euphorika’s ground-floor bartender, and paying a 5,000 Credit fee.

Once you pay the fee, you will get the Euphorika Lounge Access Card, which you can use to open the door to the upper floor next to Myka‘s bartending counter. You will find Kyu, the blue-haired bartender at the second floor’s bartending counter. Talk to Kyu and pick the dialogue option “Let me see what you have on the menu.”

This will open the Vendor > Buy menu, where you can select the Aid items option to buy Aurora from Kyu. The price is the same as Astral Lounge, 760 Credits, even though this is kind of a speakeasy location.

How to Craft Aurora

Crafting Aurora requires you to complete a three-part side mission series. The series starts with you witnessing an arrest at Neon’s spaceport as soon as you land there for the first time. Afterward, you can head to Neon Security and talk to Neshar to start the Loose Ends, which is tightly connected to Yannick Legrand, owner of Legrande’s Liquors in Neon.

Yannick has a quite grand plan in mind for his liquor Yannick’s Blend, and he needs the right person to set it in motion. Here are the steps to add Aurora Recipe to your Pharmaceutical Lab recipes:

  • You must cut Legrand’s ties with his former employees during the Loose Ends side mission. (Video Guide)
  • Next, you will unlock the Fishy Business side mission, which requires you to apply for a job at Xenofresh Fishery and craft Unprocessed Aurora for the first time (check this guide on how to get excellent performance during Unprocessered Aurora production). You aim to find Neshar’s contact inside Xenofresh Fishery’s Break Room. The contact will give you coordinates for a package. The mission ends with Administrator Bayu barging inside Legrande’s Liquors and demanding a 20% cut to allow you to smuggle Aurora from Xenofresh Fisheries. Otherwise, things will go south (although the game does not allow you to turn Bayu down). (Video Guide)
  • Finally, Yannick will ask you to do a final delivery of Aurora for him during the Supply Line side mission, unlocked right after Fishy Business. You will have to work another shift at the Xenofresh factory, manufacture three does of Aurora again, and then meet Robie at the Break Room for new coordinates for Yannick’s package. Obtaining the package and returning it to Yannick will unlock the Aurora recipe. (Video Guide)

From this point on, you can craft Aurora at any Pharmaceutical Lab. The materials required are:

  • Benzene x1
  • Chasmbass Oil x1
  • Hallucinogen x2
  • Stimulant x1

Three out of the four components are very easy to collect, but you may have some trouble with Chasmbass Oil, so here’s a guide on how to get it.

So what’s all the fuss with Aurora? You can’t really become Pablo Escobar or Heisenberg, as its selling price is quite low for Contraband at 100 Credits (remember, it’s only legal in Neon, but even then, you are not allowed to import Aurora to Neon, so it’s still listed as Contraband). However, the Aid item itself is quite powerful as it slows down time by 40% for 10 seconds, which can really turn the tide in combat situations. You may not need it at lower difficulties or once you get strong enough, but it can be a savior on Very Hard. Just don’t get addicted to it.
