As fans come to terms with the news that Geralt of Rivia will not feature in the upcoming The Witcher 4, CD Projekt Red has partnered with Dark Horse Comics to offer a new continuation of the beloved Witcher’s tale. The comic book series, titled The Witcher: Corvo Bianco, is set to launch next month, allowing fans to follow Geralt’s adventures after the events of The Witcher 3.

The series will explore Geralt’s life as he attempts to settle down at Corvo Bianco, the vineyard he acquires in the Blood and Wine expansion of The Witcher 3. Known for its tranquil beauty and the slower pace of life it offers, Corvo Bianco represents Geralt’s long-desired escape from the constant turmoil of his Witcher duties. However, as the synopsis hints, the old witcher’s attempts at retirement are complicated by the echoes of his past and the ever-present danger that follows him.

The synopsis of the series sets the tone: “For a witcher, the simple life can be hard to come by, and even harder to pass up. When Geralt acquires a taste for a slower pace—good wine, and good company—the routines of a witcher are easily eclipsed. With Yennefer at his side, one might hope that Geralt will truly get to enjoy a taste of the good life. But the stains of history are deep, and with blood and wine, every drop attracts those who want more.”

Bartosz Sztybor, a seasoned writer known for his previous work on The Witcher comics, will pen the series. He will be joined by a talented team, including colorist Matteo Vattani and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, with stunning cover art crafted by Tonci Zonjic, Neyef, and Jorge Molina.

Sztybor shared his enthusiasm for the new series, describing it as a unique blend of genres: “For all who know Geralt, Corvo Bianco is his endgame, the end of his journey, one and only place where he can retire – taking a break from killing monsters and trying to figure out how to make his own wine. As a fan of pop–culture and postmodern genre mixing, that setup above sounded like a perfect premise for a western. A western in The Witcher world – that’s something that was never done before!”

The Witcher: Corvo Bianco volume 1 of 5 is set to be released on May 8, offering a fresh narrative arc that promises to captivate fans of the franchise and comic book enthusiasts alike. As the release date approaches, anticipation builds for what promises to be a compelling addition to the rich lore of The Witcher universe.
