Late Bloomer Walkthrough: New Atlantis Side Mission

Starfield’s Late Bloomer has players recover a branch from Akila City’s Coe Heritage Museum for Kelton Frush.

Late Bloomer Walkthrough New Atlantis Side Mission

Late Bloomer is the third and final side mission you can get from Kelton Frush in New Atlantis, and a follow-up to Out on a Limb. Keton has discovered the reason behind the vibrations in New Atlantis’ tree. The tree is trying to reproduce and keeps emitting ultrasounds in wait for a response from a mating partner. However, as it receives no response it keeps increasing the emission frequency. Kelton requests that you visit the Akila City Coe Heritage Museum where a branch from another tree of the same species can be found. The tree was gifted from the UC to the Freestar Collective as a sign of peace but withered within a few years. Your goal is to convince Leah Casler to give you the tree branch.

There are a few ways you can complete the mission:

  • Persuade Leah Casler to hand over the Ancient Branch
  • Steal the Ancient Branch from the Museum’s Safe
  • Buy the Branch from Earl Fulton

Mission details:

  • Side Mission in New Atlantis
  • Planets: Jemison, Akila
  • Rewards: 100 EXP and Credits based on your character level and difficulty level

Travel to Akila City in Cheyenne and look for the Coe Heritage Museum just past the Enhance! clinic on the left side of the city. Once you enter, talk to Leah Casler.

Your first option is to use Persuasion to convince Leah. Remember that you have three turns to do so, but succeeding with one turn left will hand you an extra turn. If you fail the Persuasion check you will have one more way to obtain the branch.

Speak to Earl Fulton & Buy Branch from Earl Fulton

Failing the persuasion will lead to Leah telling you that you can obtain the branch from Earl Fulton. Earl will sell you the branch for 500 Credits. You will find Earl quite close to the Coe Heritage Museum.

Or Steal the Branch from the Museum

At any point, you can steal the Ancient Branch from the Museum’s safe, however, that requires you to lockpick an Expert Security Level lock. This approach will yield you some extra credits, ammo, and a weapon. Here is what I got:

  • 1,285 Credits
  • Ancient Branch
  • 40MM XPL
  • Instigating Bridger (Rare Heavy)

Regardless of how you acquired the branch, you must now return it to Kelton Frush at the MAST District. You also have the option to ask Kelton to give you the Ancient Branch back once the mission is complete, as you can sell it for a few Credits.

Wait & Speak to Kelton Frush

Once Kelton is done, he will have a simulated response to the New Atlantis tree. You must now find a way to play the audio.

Upload Audio to an SSNN Terminal

You can now fast-travel to the Commercial District and head to the SSNN building. Once you reach the SSNN terminal, open the Broadcast Diagnostics Folder. Then, select Upload Diagnostic File and Run Diagnostic.

Return to the Tree & Speak to Kelton Frush

Kelton will inform you that he is already seeing a reduction in the strength of the tree’s vibrations. This complete Late Bloomer and you will receive 100 EXP and Credits based on your character level and game difficulty.
