Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Since its debut in 2007, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series has whisked players across the sands of time to diverse locales spanning Africa, Europe, America, and Asia. The historical richness of the series offers an endless canvas for narratives, with each installment diving into different epochs and events. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, released in 2018 and set during the Peloponnesian War in ancient Greece, stands out as one of the most popular and expansive titles in the series. It introduced players to the sibling protagonists, Alexios and Kassandra, and presented a sprawling map that captured the essence of ancient Greek territories.

A creative fan on Reddit, user AnassBoumarag, has taken the geographical scope of Odyssey even further with a conceptual map titled ‘Assassin’s Creed Roman Empire.’ This imaginative creation extends beyond Greece and Italy to encompass vast regions of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East—territories once under Roman rule.

The fan-made map is ambitious, to say the least. It proposes an Assassin’s Creed game that would potentially be the largest Ubisoft has ever developed, given the historical expanse of the Roman Empire. However, community members were quick to point out the logistical challenges such a vast game world would present. From the sheer scale potentially reducing geographic features to “an itty bitty Peninsula island” to the humorous suggestion that it could turn a gaming console into a “nuke,” fans debated the feasibility of the concept with both admiration for its creativity and skepticism about its practicality.

Despite these challenges, the map has been praised for its professional quality and attention to detail, with some users noting it looks like it could be an official Ubisoft release. “This is a fantastic mock-up, no questions about it. It even looks official, since you went out of your way to replicate the in-game elements with great accuracy,” said Reddit user BrunoHM.

While the prospect of an actual Assassin’s Creed Roman Empire game remains a dream for now, the concept underscores the passionate engagement of the Assassin’s Creed community. It highlights not only the fans’ love for the series but also their eagerness to explore more of history’s vast landscapes through the immersive lens of a video game.

In the meantime, fans of the series can continue to enjoy Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and its deep dive into ancient Greek history, available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Whether steering a trireme through the Aegean Sea or climbing the steps of the Parthenon, Odyssey offers a richly detailed world that continues to captivate gamers around the globe.
