Subnautica Below Zero Console Commands Cheats

The following post contains all the Console Commands and cheats. The console commands in Subnautica: Below Zero will be able to assist you in overcoming all of the game’s challenges if our post on the world map is not enough to assist you. Subnautica: Below Zero is the sequel to Subnautica, released on January 30, 2019.

Before discussing all available commands, it is essential to note that console commands might affect your gaming experience. The use of these commands will disable achievements on the current save file.

How to Activate the Developer Console


The developer console is disabled by default; therefore, to use Console Commands on a PC, you will need to enable it:  

  • Press F3 to reveal the console activation overlay.
  • Press F8 to toggle the appearance of the mouse cursor.
  • Next, use your mouse to uncheck the “Disable Console” option.
  • Finally, press the F3 key to close the window.
  • The developer console should now be activated.

After enabling the developer console, press Enter or ~; you will have to re-enable the console every time you start the game.


You must enable the developer console to use Console Commands on macOS.

  • Press fn + F3 to reveal the console activation overlay.
  • Press fn + F8 to toggle the appearance of the mouse cursor.
  • Next, use your mouse to uncheck the “Disable Console” option.
  • Finally, press the fn + F3 key to close the window.
  • The developer console should now be activated.

After enabling the developer console, press Enter or ~; you will have to re-enable the console every time you start the game to keep using Console Commands.


To enable the developer console on PS4, press: L1+R1+X


To enable the developer console on Xbox, press: LB+RB+A

Nintendo Switch

To enable the developer console on Nintendo Switch, press: A+L+R

All Subnautica Below Zero Console Commands

General commands

Listed below are Console Commands that change general settings or have general effects:  

Subnautica Below Zero console commandDescription
item NAME #Adds a specified amount of NAME item to the player’s inventory. The default number is 1.
Example:item titanium 5” will add 5 Titanium to the player’s inventory.
spawn NAME #Spawns a specified amount of NAME object in front of the player. The default number is 1.
Example: “spawn hoopfish 5” spawns 5 Hoopfish in front of the player.
baseflood #Floods all player-built seabases to a designated water level percentage. Use 0 for empty and 1 for fully flooded.

Also adds:
Habitat Builder
Survival Knife
Repair Tool 

To the player’s inventory.
bubblesSpawns several air bubbles around the player.
charge #Charges all batteries in inventory to a given percentage. 0 means completely uncharged, and 1 means fully charged.
clearinventoryDeletes everything in the inventory.
coldToggles the effect of cold on the player.
damage #Sets universal damage multiplier to player’s choice.
damagebaseBreaches all Seabases.
dig #Removes all terrain around the player in a sphere with a diameter of # meters (max value: 100). This command can severely strain the gameplay performance.
ency NAMEUnlocks a specific database entry.

Doing “ency all” will give the player all of the data bank entries, even ones not acquirable in-game yet.
fastbuildAllows the player to build modules quickly with the Habitat Builder.
fastgrowPlantable flora will grow within a few moments when placed in any type of planter.
fasthatchEggs will hatch within a few moments after being placed in an Alien Containment.
fastscanReduces the scanning time when using the Scanner.
fastswimToggles fast swim mode allows you to gain a large speed boost while holding Left Shift.
filterfastReduces the time Water Filtration Machines take to filter.
filtersaltIt causes every Water Filtration Machine on the map to fabricate Salt instantly.
filterwaterIt causes every Water Filtration Machine on the map to instantly fabricate a Large Filtered Water.
freedomcreativesurvivalhardcoreChanges game mode to chosen type.
freezeFreezes all small fish.
freezeplayerIt freezes the player similarly to the effect of the Brinewing.
goal NAME NAMETriggers the desired Story Goal. Each type of Story Goal has a different effect, but the names of specific goals are only found in the game files.

There are four types of goals: PDA, Radio, Encyclopedia, and Story. To use the command, write the type of goal as the first parameter and the name of the story goal as the second parameter.
goalreset NAMEUnchecks a given Story Goal. It uses the same Story Goals as the goal command.
hoverbikevariant1Creatures will ignore the player completely. Additionally, vehicles will not suffer any hull damage from any source.
hoverbikevariant2Changes all spawned Snowfoxes to variant 2, meaning they have infinite boost and increased jump height.
hypnosisonEnables Lily Paddler’s hypnosis effect.
hypnosisoffDisables the Lily Paddler’s hypnosis effect.
icewormhuntmodeoffTurns off Ice Worm hunt mode.
icewormhuntmodeonTurns on Ice Worm hunt mode.
instagibChanges all spawned Snowfoxes to variant 1, meaning they have infinite boost and increased jump height. Additionally, there is no maximum speed when using the boost; the Snowfox accelerates without limit.
invisibleCreatures will ignore the player completely. Additionally, Vehicles will not take any hull damage from any source.
killRespawns the player instantly inside the drop pod. Useful as a “teleport” feature.
Do NOT use it on the Hardcore game mode.
launchrocketForces the Exchanger Rocket to launch.
noblueprintsUnlocks all blueprints.
nobubblesDisables the player’s breath bubbles.
nocostToggles unlimited, free use of the Fabricator, Habitat Builder, Mobile Vehicle Bay, Vehicle Upgrade Console, and Modification Station whether the player has the required items or not.
nodamageToggles damage on/off.
noenergyDisables the player’s Food and water requirements and removes sustenance value on items. Only applicable for Survival and Hardcore modes.
nohintsToggles game hints on/off.
nopressureToggles pressure effects on Seabases and Vehicles on/off.
nosurvivalDisables the player’s food and water requirements and removes sustenance value on items. Only applicable for Survival and Hardcore modes.
ongoal NAMECompletes the specified story goal.
Typing ongoal all will complete all Story Goals instantly.
oxygenGives the player an unlimited supply of oxygen. If used after oxygen reaches 0, it won’t save you from dying.
resetmotormodeForces the player into swim mode while in an underwater Architect Base.
resourcesfor NAMEProvides resources for any specific craftable items. Example: “resourcesfor knife” will give the player Silicone Rubber and Titanium.
rotfoodRots all the food in the player’s inventory.
schoolfishrepulsedbyplayerToggles shoals fleeing from the player.
seaglideSpawns an unpowered Seaglide in front of the player.
shotgunToggles Instagib mode, which allows the player to kill all kill all killable creatures.
startexchangerquestWarps the player to the Exchanger Rocket and gives you a Repair Tool and two Coffee Americanos.
story NAMEAdvances the current story to a designated point. The story command uses pre-made parameters to skip to specific points in the story, and the full list of commands is viewable when typing on its own.
A description of each command can be seen using the story help command.
The list of commands and appropriate description is as follows:

sendenzymeRepair the Exchanger Rocket with the Repair Tool if necessary, or build a new rocket from the terminal on the rocket platform. Put the Concentrated Enzyme 42 into to rocket, go to the terminal, and click to launch the rocket.
marg1 Walk uphill and out of the cave entrance to trigger the first encounter with Marguerit Maida.
sanctuary Swim into Sanctuary Zero to hear the Architect talk to you for the first time. Head to the room at the back for the download sequence.
skipintro Will complete all goals triggered during the intro sequence and warp you to the cave entrance that leads back to the ice lake. This is only useful when starting a new game because it does not reset anything.
radiorepair Go to the radio tower and repair it to restore communications with the Vesper.
researchnotes Enter the base to find the requested research notes.
colleaguepda Enter the bunker and collect the PDA.
frozencreature Go to the frozen creature and take a sample.
radiosalvage Use the laser cutter to collect the salvage needed to repair the radio tower.
collectenzyme: Approach a sea emperor to be greeted and collected an enzyme when it gets released.
story help NAMEShows the help description for a given story command. See the story command for a list of commands and their descriptions.
supplydrop NAMEInitiates a certain drop. Example: “supplydrop briefing-disabled” initiates the supply drop that contains the Sector Zero briefing.

Type supply drop with no supply drop name for the following list:

Supply Drops:
drop_bioscannersupplydrop: Contains the Bioscanner.
droplifepod: Drop a Drop Pod at Outpost Zero.
precursorscan_level_1: Contains 2 Power Cells, 2 Disinfected Waters, and 2 First Aid Kits.
precursorscan_level_2: Contains 2 Ion Cubes and a Precursor Tether.
supplydropforbase: Drops a Drop Pod in the Shallow Twisty Bridges.
log_buildersupplydrop: Contains the Habitat Builder.
log_vesper_7: Contains 1 Filtered Water, 2 Nutrient Blocks, and a Data Chip containing the Seatruck Depth Upgrade MK1 blueprint.
log_dropdepthupgrade2: Contains 1 Filtered Water, 2 Nutrient Blocks, and a Data Chip containing the Seatruck Depth Upgrade MK2 blueprint.
briefing-disabled: Contains 1 Filtered Water.
log_spypenguinsupplydrop: Contains a bugged Data Box containing the Spy Pengling blueprint and a Spy Pengling Remote.
testdrop: Drops a Drop Pod at Outpost Zero.

test3: Contains 9 Salt Deposits and 1 Nutrient Block.
supplydropallShows the list of supply drops.
takedamage #Damages player’s health % amount equal to value.
unfreezeIt unfreezes all small fish.
unfreezeplayerIt unfreezes the player.
unlock NAMEUnlocks a specific blueprint.
Example: “unlock solarpanel” unlocks Solar Panels.
Typing “unlock all” will unlock all blueprints.
unlockallUnlocks all blueprints.
unlockallbuildablesUnlocks every blueprint used by the Habitat Builder.
unlockdoorsUnlocks all forcefields in Architect Bases.

  In Subnautica Below Zero, you can add items to your inventory using the following console commands.

Weather and Time of Day Commands

The Console Commands below will affect game time and control the game weather.

Subnautica Below Zero console commandDescription
daySets the time to midday – 12:00 pm.
nightSets the time to night – 12:00 am.
accelweather #Accelerates future weather events to the given number.
daynight #Sets the time of day.
0 and 1 are midnight, and 0.5 is noon.
Numbers above or below 1 or 0 will be rounded down or up, respectively.
daynightspeed #Sets the day/night cycle speed multiplier Default value: 1.
A value of 2 would be a day/night cycle twice as fast (shorter day and shorter night).
A float value lower than 1, such as 0.1, will make the day/night cycle 10x slower.
forcenextweatherAdvances current weather to the next one on the timeline.
lightningToggles lightning effects on/off.
precipitationToggles rain on/off.
resetweatherRe-rolls all weather effects for the next 24 in-game hours.
skiptime #Skips the specified number of seconds. One day is equal to 1200 seconds.
weatherToggles weather effects on/off.
weatherevent NAMESets the current weather to the given name.
windToggles wind on/off.

Graphics, Debug, Performance, and Settings Commands

The following sub-commands can be used to alter graphics, performance, and other game settings:

entresetResets all loaded entities.
farplane #Changes your viewing distance. 1000 is the default.
fogToggles in-game fog.
fpsShows FPS.
freecamAllows you to freely leave your character, roam the terrain, and even fly through solid objects. Use the command again to go back to your character.
(WARNING: Susceptible movements, cannot open menu or inventory while in freecam. DO NOT use while seated in/on a chair or vehicle; this will make an irreversible bug, forcing you to reload to your last save, or saving, then reloading the save and then exiting the vehicle to fix it.)

To manipulate freecam movement, use shift to accelerate. Pressing the numbers 1-5 also changes the speed at which you move.
gameresetResets the terrain.
Note: Do not use the command while you are inside a vehicle
ghostSame as freecam, but the player model is teleported to camera position when canceled rather than vice versa. Very useful for making size references.
icewormForces all spawned Ice Worms start their ground-exit animation, wait a few seconds, and return to the ground.
interpolateToggles interpolation of player movement on/off.
killvehicleIt makes all Seatrucks and their modules explode.
limitshadow #Limits shadows to a certain radius around the player.
listambienceLists all ambiance files implemented in the game and the biome ID they are associated with.

Typing the command returns this list:

pcannonIt gives all objects that can be picked up by the propulsion cannon a blue glow, similar to the effect while scanning an object.
It also enables the noenergy command.
printbiomeShows on-screen what biome the player is currently in.
ribToggles background running for the game.
scene NAMELoads the NAME scene. The currently known available scene name is “Main.”
dbcdebugcreaturesToggles the creature debugger on/off.
sizerefSpawns the “Wasabi One” diver to use as a size reference. You must be looking at the terrain when you use the command.
skiptrackSkips to the next music track.
spikeytraphuntForces all spawned Spike Traps into hunting mode.
spikeytraprestForces all spawned Spike Traps into resting mode.
targetToggles target debug on/off.
targetframerate #Sets maximum game framerate.
techtype NAMEPrints the techtype for a given name.
You can use it to get debug spawn commands.
Note: Upon success, the given techtype will be in your clipboard.
vranimToggles VR animations on/off.
vsyncToggles VSync on/off.
weatherguiToggles the weather debug GUI on/off.

You can teleport to specific locations on the Subnautica Below Zero map by using the console commands below.

chunk x y zTeleports the player to the chunk of their choice.
Chunk -400 -400 -400 is the approximate middle of Sector Zero.
gotofast NAMESame as the gotocommand, except it teleports the player instead of moving them quickly.
gotospamTeleports the player between two locations until the game is exited or the gotospam command is used.
gotostopIf the player has used gotospam, this stops the loop.
spawnnearbyTeleports the player half a meter in a random direction. Good for getting unstuck. It does not work while in vehicles.
warpforward #Warps the player forward by # meters. It does not work while in vehicles.
