Many gamers highly value the ability to pause a game during real-life interruptions. However, in the case of Palworld, a pause feature is not available, regardless of whether you’re playing in single-player mode or online multiplayer. Palworld’s emphasis on its online multiplayer aspect means the game continues running even if you temporarily need to step away from your console or PC.

Is There a Way to Pause Palworld?

Through testing on both Xbox Series X|S and PC, it’s clear that the game doesn’t offer a conventional pause function. The closest alternative is exiting to the Main Menu. This option is feasible in Single Player mode, as Palworld boasts quick load times, allowing for a swift return to gameplay after a brief interruption. In Multiplayer mode, however, leaving the game unattended could lead to in-game risks like starvation or exposure.

To access the Main Menu, use the Options button on an Xbox controller or the ESC key on a keyboard. Navigate to the “Options” menu on the top bar and select “Return To Title.” This action serves as a makeshift pause, providing a temporary break from the game without the consequences of in-game threats.

Pausing Palworld on a Windows PC is possible, though it’s not an official game feature and requires a workaround. This method is somewhat technical and should be used with caution. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Accessing the Resource Monitor: Press the Windows key and ‘R’ simultaneously to open the ‘Run’ dialog box. In this box, type RESMON and either press Enter or click ‘OK.’ This action will open the Resource Monitor.
  2. Pausing Palworld: In the Resource Monitor, search for Palworld in the Processes list. Once you find it, right-click on the Palworld process and select ‘Suspend Process.’ This effectively pauses the game.
  3. Resuming the Game: To resume playing, return to the Resource Monitor, right-click on the Palworld process, and select ‘Resume Process.’

While it’s possible to automate this process with a script, it’s important to note that forcibly suspending Palworld might lead to unintended consequences, such as game crashes or other stability issues.

This method provides a way to pause Palworld on a PC, but it should be used judiciously, given the potential risks involved.
