How to Cure the Depressed Pal Status Effect in Palworld

In Palworld, taking care of your Pals’ emotional and physical well-being is of utmost importance. While there are various status effects/conditions that can affect them, Depression is particularly challenging to manage, as it requires a specific remedy. Unlike Hungry, Overfull, or Fracture Depression in Pals can only be treated with High Grade Medical Supplies that can be crafted using a Medicine Workbench.

Pals suffering from Depression are easily identifiable by a purple “Depressed” label next to their picture in your base’s Pal list. These Pals tire quickly, and their work pace slows down, which can hinder the overall productivity of your base. It’s important to treat them promptly or substitute them with a healthy Pal to maintain efficiency.

It’s worth noting that Pals who are merely “Upset and went to bed” might be experiencing low Sanity but aren’t necessarily Depressed. Addressing their needs early is advisable to prevent the onset of Depression.

Medieval Medical Workbench

To cure a Pal of Depression, Palworld requires players to craft High Grade Medical Supplies at a Medieval Medicine Workbench. This workbench is accessible upon reaching level 12 and spending Technology Points to unlock it. The ingredients for crafting these supplies include:

  • Five Ingots (produced from 10 Ore in a Furnace)
  • Five Horns (obtained from horned Pals)
  • Two Bones (collected from creatures like Vixy, Rushoar, and Gorirat)

Having a Pal specialized in Medicine Production expedites the crafting process. If crafting is not an option, High Grade Medical Supplies can also be purchased from the Wandering Merchant in Duneshelter, located at coordinates 344, 361, or any other Wandering Merchant, for 3,000 Gold Coins each. Given the high cost of High Grade Medical Supplies I believe crafting them is much more efficient.

How to Give High Grade Medical Supplies to a Pal Suffering from Depression

After acquiring the High Grade Medical Supplies, there are several ways to administer them:

  1. For Pals working at a base, approach them, access the Menu, select Feed, and then choose the High Grade Medical Supplies from your inventory.
  2. For Pals in your party, open your inventory and use the High Grade Medical Supplies directly.
  3. If the Pal is in the Palbox, transfer them to your party or assign them to your base, then follow the steps for either scenario as appropriate.

These steps will effectively cure your Pal of the Depressed status. Additionally, these supplies are also useful for treating the Weakened status.

Warning: Placing a Pal in the Palbox Won’t Cure Depression

There’s a common misconception that keeping a Pal in the Palbox will cure Depression. However, this is not the case. While the Palbox can restore Sanity and Health, it does not affect the Depressed status. High Grade Medical Supplies are the only solution for this condition.

To avoid future instances of Depression among your Pals, ensure that your base is well-stocked with food in a Feed Box, and consider building a Hot Spring to help maintain their Sanity.

In conclusion, understanding and effectively managing Depression in Palworld enhances the gaming experience, ensuring that your Pals remain happy and productive.
