Every Elden Ring Spirit Ashes Summon and How to Get them

In this post, you will find everything you need to know about the available Spirit Ashes at Elden Ring’s launch tomorrow. Spirit Ashes introduce a new innovative combat mechanism that allows Elden Ring players to summon the spirits of past enemies.

Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s most ambitious project so far. This is their first open-world “Souls” game, and it aims to be their most accessible game to players looking to get a taste of the unique “Soulborne” sub-genre the publisher has established.

Elden Ring will feature the Lands Between as the open-world settings where the events of the games take place. As the “Tarnished”, they will explore the game’s dark fantasy magical world.

Players will need to dig deep into the class system to discover their preferred playstyle to survive the bosses and harsh enemies they will face. A closer look into the game’s character stats for beginners may also be in order.

Elden Ring – How to Get the Spirit calling Bell

Spirit Ashes manifest the fallen souls of different enemies that players will defeat in the Lands Between. Players can summon the souls of certain enemies to aid them in combat once they have been defeated.

After meeting Melina for the first time (to acquire your mount, Torrent), you must visit Church Elleh at night and talk to the witch Renna. Upon doing so, she will ask you whether you can summon Torrent. Answer yes, and she will reward you with Spirit Calling Bell, along with your first Spirit Ashes, the Lone Wolf Ashes.

Another place to buy the Spirit Calling Bell in case you haven’t talked to Renna is the game’s central hub, Roundtable Hold.

How to Summon Spirit Ashes

Once you have the Spirit Calling Bell you can use it to summon Spirit Ashes. However, firstly you will have to locate each Spirit’s ashes. Here are all 32 available Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring. As you can see there is an FP cost for each time you summon, which you will have to take into account in during the fight.

Even more importantly, there are several restrictions that come with the use of Spirit Ashes, to maintain the power balance in the Lands Between and keep Elden Ring at its intended difficulty level.

Here are the summoning restrictions to remember if you are planning to bring a spirit to a fight:

  • You are going to need each individual Spirit’s ash to be able to call upon it during an encounter.
  • Focus Points are required to summon spirits. You can use focus Points to increase your knowledge and skills.
  • You can summon only one spirit at a given time and only once per encounter. As a result, You cannot summon spirits again if they have been killed in a boss fight.
  • Spirits must stay within the boundaries they are summoned into, or they will disappear.
  • To summon from the ashes, players must be within close proximity of a rebirth memorial.

The ability to summon Spirits opens up new possibilities for players to engage in encounters. You can also use other magic forms, such as Incantations and Sorceries, to unleash powerful abilities.

Note: Players can only take advantage of this unique mechanic by summoning Spirit Ashes only in single-player mode, as combining the help of Spirits with that of your friends in multiplayer could make things a bit too easy in boss fights.

All Spirit Ashes summons in Elden Ring

This is everything you need to know and where to find them.

Ancestral Follower Ashes

Using Ancestral Follower Ashes summons a minotaur-like Ancestral Follower with a heavy bow.

How to get it: Reward for beating the Ancestor Spirit boss at Hallowhorn Grounds, Siofra River.

Lone Wolf Ashes

You can summon a pack with three wolves by using the Lone Wolf Ashes. Each of these wolves has its own life bar and attacks and will act independently during fights. The summoned wolves are fast and can inflict massive damage, but they are more of a glass cannon option as they are very squishy.

How to get it: You can purchase Lone Wolf Ashes from Merchant Kale at Church of Elle.

Glintstone Sorcerer Ashes

These Spirit Ashes will someone on Glintstone Sorcerer from the Raya Lucaria Academy.

How to get it: Reward upon beating the Spirit-Caller boss in Road’s End catacombs.

Noble Sorcerer Ashes

You can summon the Noble Sorcerer Ashes to summon a sorcerer capable of attacking enemies from afar. It uses the Glinestone Pebble sorcery ability to attack. This ability is also available for players.

This is a great way to distract enemies. However, it attacks slowly and doesn’t do too much damage.

How to get it: You can purchase Noble Sorcerer Ashes from Merchant Kale at Church of Elle.

Northern Mercenary Ashes

You can summon a mercenary equipped with a cleaver using the Northern Mercenary Ashes. This summons is considered the strongest and most potent, and it can fight alongside the player. This Spirit summon can dodge and block, unlike most other summons in the game. Consequently, it can last longer than others in battle.

How to get it: You can find Northern Mercenary Ashes on a corpse in Murkwater Catacombs.

Spirit Jellyfish Ashes

You can summon a giant jellyfish using the Spirit Jellyfish Ashes. The giant jellyfish will move slowly and attack enemies nearby and far away with its ranged abilities.

This summon is a better choice for boss battles because of its slow movement speed and slow attack charge up.

How to get it: You can find Spirit Jellyfish Ashes on a Stormhill corpse. Find out where all the jellyfish are.

Spirits can bring about some changes in the world of Elden Ring. However, it is vital to understand how important the use of the correct incantations and sorceries is in the game.

Wandering Noble Ashes

You can summon five wandering noble zombies with the Wandering Noble Ashes. They are mobile and can attack close to their targets. Each of the five zombies will be given a life bar. This is like five summons in one.

These guys are great at crowd control, but they won’t take down many enemies as their damage output is underwhelming. Three of them will be armed only with swords. The other two will be armed with torches.

How to get it: You can find Wandering Noble Ashes in Limegrave’s Stormfoot Catacombs. You will find a body hidden behind the second flamethrower machine.
